| Clay reminds us to be open to the happy accident, the unexpected outcome. Whatever my intention there's often an element of magic that transforms a piece into something greater than the sum of its parts. That same openness serves me in making a piece on commission. In the dialogue of working with someone else's vision I often end up someplace I wouldn't have gotten to on my own, somewhere unexpected and wonderful. |
